A lifelong competitor herself, Gretchen’s enthusiasm for playing and teaching the game of golf has been in her blood from the start. As the granddaughter of former Vermont Amateur golf champion Leslie Mercer, and daughter of retired Teaching Professional Anne Marie (Mercer) Scheuermann, Gretchen has been a standout athlete since childhood. Before focusing on golf, Gretchen earned various accolades as a top collegiate field hockey player. She thrived as a scholarship athlete at Northwestern University and was a member of U.S. National Field Hockey Team (’95 & ’96); was inducted into the Northwestern University Athletic Hall of Fame; and was selected to the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame (’13).
Over the years, Gretchen has developed a patient style of coaching and knows that it is important to have fun in the process of playing your very best golf game. As a dedicated golf professional, Gretchen has a true passion for teaching and has a great ability to really connect with and motivate her students.
